history

A J Marshall (Leeds) Ltd was founded almost 40 years ago by the Marshall family (James, Pamela and Alan). It traded from a small office in Leeds, as steel stockholders specialising in High Strength and Abrasion Resistant steel plates. In 1988 and 1997 to allow for expansion the company twice moved to larger offices. Warehousing facilities were also established in Huddersfield at the former date. In 2003 office and warehouse operations were consolidated at the current location at Tockwith, York. At this point the company changed its trading title to A J Marshall (Special Steels) Ltd to more accurately reflect the company’s involvement in specialist steel plate products. With the passing of James and Pamela (both active in the company until their deaths), Alan Marshall became the sole shareholder of A J Marshall (Special Steels) Ltd. As part of our continued commitment to meet the demands of our extensive customer base both throughout the UK and overseas we now have stocks in excess of 4000 (four thousand) tonnes and 38,000 square feet of warehousing space. We have become the UK’s largest independent supplier of High Strength and Abrasion Resistant plate and have increased our range to include 12/14% Manganese and Cor-Ten atmospheric corrosion resistant steel.
